Introduction
The Danish Chamber of Commerce Western Japan (DCCWJ) was established in 1988 thanks to the efforts of Mr. A.P. Asmussen, then representative of the Danish Trade Office in Kobe, and seven companies with Japanese and Danish connections. The main purpose of the Chamber is to improve business and develop cultural exchange between Japan and Denmark. We are not affiliated with the Danish Chamber of Commerce in Japan, but we serve many of the same purposes, albeit with a regional focus.
Denmark
Denmark is located in Northern Europe near Sweden & Norway. Denmark's latitude is almost the same as Hokkaido’s, and is almost as large as Kyushu. The head of state is Queen Margrethe II. Denmark has one of the leading social welfare societies in the world where about 5.5 million people descended from Vikings now live peacefully. You can sense something of Danish nationality by reading Hans Christian Andersen, the famous author of the fairy tale "Little Mermaid". In addition to its progressive culture, Danish commerce is known for advanced technology. Mr. Shingo TORII is the Honorary Consul for the Royal Danish Honorary Consulate located at Suntory Bldg., 2-1-40, Dojimahama, Kita-ku, Osaka-shi. Post Code: 530-8203 Tel. 06-6346-1285
Events
We welcome members who have business or cultural connections with Denmark, or who simply want to learn more about Denmark. We plan five or so events a year for our members to network to build professional and personal connections. In the past few years we have usually held a cherry blossom viewing party in May, organized a party with reserved seats at the Yodogawa Fireworks Festival in August, held our general meeting in October and a given a Christmas party in December. Participants at the events include staff from the Royal Danish Embassy, Danish businesses in Japan, companies which deal with Danish products, and people who just love Denmark!
